Age 76, of Chillicothe, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at his home. He was born in Kingston, Ohio on February 5, 1942 to John and Margaret (Adams) Short. Jay was a longtime auto mechanic and enjoyed helping others. He was an ordained minister for many years, serving in churches as far away as Alabama. He liked fishing, playing his guitar in church, enjoyed the outdoors, and was a devoted Cincinnati Reds and Buckeye fan. More than anything else, Jay loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his son, Royce (Eugenia) Short of Grayson, KY; daughter, Jayna (Terry) Clements of Chillicothe; brother, Marvin Short of NC; sisters, Virginia Spencer of New Boston and Lillian Mae Spencer of Lauraville, OH; grandchildren, Timmy, Travis, and Trisha Clements, Brandon Scott, Shayna Malolepszy; great-grandchildren, Leah Scott, Shaylynn and Quinn Malolepszy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra, in 2009; a daughter, Kimberly Short; a grandchild, Royce Short, Jr.; one brother, Larry; one sister, Kathern.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at North Moreland Lighthouse Church in New Boston with Pastor Clyde Spencer officiating. Interment will follow at Mt.
