Alta Mae (Lore) Thompson, 87, went to be with the Lord, Saturday May 31, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. Alta was born September 10, 1926, the daughter of the late Walter and Minnie Lore in Portsmouth. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by three husbands, Harding Penix, John Williams, and Everett Thompson; two grandsons, John Wesley Williams and Nate Williams; three brothers, Stanley, Ed, and Sherman; three sisters, Stella, Annie, and Mary. She loved the Lord, she loved to sing to Him and for Him. She was a prayer warrior.

Alta is survived by five sons, Jim (Linda) Lore, Jack (Diana) Lore, Gerald (Joy) Penix, Tim (Lisa) Williams, and Rob (Teresa) Williams; three daughters, Pam (Leo) Boone, Joy (Mark) Bales, Tammi (Terry) Phillips; 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Darrell and George; three sisters, Edith, Betty, and Joy.

A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2014 at the SWICK-BUSSA-CHAMBERLIN FUNERAL HOME in Wheelersburg with Pastors Gerald Penix and Jack Lore officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
