Arthur Pearl Oppy, 72, of Hilliard died Saturday, June 7, 2014, at his home. He was born April 23, 1942, in South Webster, Ohio, a son of the late Fredrick and Iva Mae Rawlins Oppy. He was a 1960 graduate of South Webster High School, a retired electrician, and a U. S. Air Force veteran, having spent time in Vietnam.
He is survived by his life-companion, Lana Hanson; two sons, Alan (Tracey) Hanson of Columbus and Arthur Pearl (Penney) Oppy II of Moncks Corner, SC; a stepson, Kevin (Kate) Hanson; two grandsons, Arthur Pearl Oppy III and Zachery Oppy; a granddaughter, Labriska Dawn Ward; two brothers, Paul Oppy and Roger (Brenda) Oppy, both of Wheelersburg; and two sisters, Fern (Don) Ginn of Washington Courthouse and Sharon (Dell) Shuff of Wheelersburg. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by four brothers, Earl, Eldon, Carl, and Lester Oppy.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2014, at the Swick-Bussa-Chamberlin Funeral Home in Wheelersburg with Rev. Mark Price officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at South Webster Cemetery with military rites by James Irwin Post 622 and James Baker Post 363 American Legion. Online condolences may be made to www.swickbussachamberlin.com.
