Betty June Elrod, 75, of Portsmouth, died Friday, April 10, 2009 at Riverside Hospital. She was born April 7, 1934 in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late Bernie and Lena Martin Montgomery. She was a member of Cedar Street Church of Christ in Christian Union of New Boston. Betty is survived by her husband, Paul F. Elrod whom she married on April 25, 1953; two sons, Paul David Elrod and Michael Harold Elrod both of Portsmouth; two sisters, Sylvia Cooper of Portsmouth and Georgetta Craft of New Boston; seven grandchildren, Kristin (Joe) Kinnison, Stephanie (Marc) Montgomery, Kaylee Elrod, Levi Elrod, Rusty Conley Elrod, Shauna Elrod and Nikki Elrod and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston with Pastor Gary Heimbach officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Burial Park.
