Obituary

Age 94 of New Boston, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Best Care in Wheelersburg. He was born in Portsmouth on September 24, 1921 to Edward Augustus and (Tabitha) Ersie (Keesee) Chapman. Carl served his country in the Army during WWII where he was stationed at Guadalcanal in the Pacific. Professionally he worked as a Parking Meter Foreman for the City of Portsmouth. After his retirement, he worked as a Security Guard for SOMC. Carl had an inquiring mind and loved to read history books and his bible. He was a faithful member of Mabert Road Baptist Church and was known among family and friends for his daily morning trips to McDonalds.

He is survived by two stepsons, Chuck (Kim) Conn of Wheelersburg, Cecil Conn, Jr. of Cincinnati; two stepdaughters, Mary Walton of Stout, Betty (Bill) Thacker of New Boston; niece Ruth Ann Noel of Piketon; great-niece by marriage, Barbara Aultman of NC; great-nephew, Steve Sowards of Delaware. In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine V. Claypool Chapman; second wife, Lena Chapman; brother, Quentin M. Chapman; sisters, Ruth Chapman Sowards, Patience Clay Chapman; two brothers in infancy.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 20, 2016 at WOLFE-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in Sciotoville with Pastor James Benner officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg. Friends may call Thursday from 4 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour before the service on Friday.
