Age 70, of Portsmouth, passed away Monday, April 8, 2019, at SOMC Hospice Center. She was born November 27, 1948 in Sciotoville, a daughter of the late Elliot and Frances (Brown) Stapleton. Connie was a 1966 graduate of Portsmouth East High School, was a member of Mabert Road Baptist Church where she was the Missionary Leader, and volunteered at various nursing homes.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann Blackburn of Portsmouth; a son Grover Blackburn; an aunt, Anette Brown; and several cousins.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at D.W. SWICK-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in New Boston with Pastor James Benner officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
