Age 61 of Franklin Furnace, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home December 30, 2017 after a short battle with cancer, having been diagnosed only three short weeks ago. He was born May 20, 1956 in Ironton to Ralph and Lettie (Igo) Jenkins. He graduated from Green High School in 1974. David was the ultimate family man who always put others before himself. He enjoyed playing with his new granddaughter and his three dogs, watching Westerns, riding 4-wheelers, having family get-togethers, fishing, and building campfires on the Ohio River. He was owner/operator of Kaplan Trucking for more than 20 years.

David is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Debbie; daughter, Samantha (Dustin) Burke and granddaughter, Olivia Burke, all of Pittsboro, NC; mother, Lettie Jenkins of Ironton; brother, Jeremy Jenkins of Rydal, GA; sisters, Judy Jenkins of Franklin Furnace, Kathy (Kent) Greene of Panama City, FL, Anita Via of Ironton; nephew, Shane (Jayma) Jenkins of Franklin Furnace. He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday, January 4, 2018 at D.W. SWICK-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in Wheelersburg with Pastor Ronnie Blevins officiating. Interment will follow at Haverhill Cemetery.
