IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David Charles
Lewis
July 30, 1944 – August 30, 2025
David (Dave) Charles Lewis, age 81, of Wheelersburg, went to be with our Heavenly Father on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2025, at the SOMC Hospice Center in Portsmouth, after battling cancer for a year. He was born July 30, 1944, in Moline, Illinois, to Wilbur and Betty Lewis. He graduated from Illinois Wesleyan with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry and completed graduate studies at Illinois State University.
Dave was a devoted husband and father with an unquestionable constitution, quiet strength, wit, and winning sense of humor. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, earning the National Defense Service Medal. He spent most of his career in Quality Assurance as a Research and Development Engineer at UNI-REF in Sharonville, Ohio, BMI-France, of South Webster, and USS Chemicals in Haverhill, Ohio.
His lifelong love of music and singing began when he was a member of the Moline Boys Choir. In high school, he played the alto saxophone. Dave enjoyed the outdoors, camping, was an avid gardener, and knew how to get fish on the line. He also liked doing charitable work, playing cards, and was a phenomenal Chess and Scrabble player. He enjoyed watching the Ohio State Buckeyes and was a member of the Golden Bears at Shawnee State University. Most of all, he loved spending time with family and friends.
Dave is survived by daughters, Cheryl (Chuck) Giles, Michelle (Brad) Teeters; seven grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren, and cousins Debbie Holt, Kent Holt, and Terry Holloway. He was preceded in death by his wife Lynne, of 53 years, and by his parents.
