Age 59 of Portsmouth passed away Monday, June 26, 2017 at Riverside Hospital in Columbus. He was born on April 18, 1958 in Portsmouth to Richard and Betty (Rachford) Newton. He was a 1977 graduate of Portsmouth High School and worked as a laborer in the construction industry. David enjoyed fishing, hunting, and show horses and was a 4H advisor for five years. He was active in the Scioto County Fair and a member of several horse clubs. He considered himself a country boy who lived in the city and loved his truck, cars, cooking, and listening to the oldies - the Beattles, Eagles, and ACDC. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah (Workman); son, David Kyle Newton of Portsmouth; daughters, Danielle Newton of West Portsmouth, Sarah Newton of South Portsmouth, KY, Kayla Newton of South Portsmouth, KY, Stacie (Charlie) Castle of Franklin Furnace; brother, Curtis Newton of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Lucas Newton, Payton Newton-Castle, Lev Newton, Wyatt Clendenin; five step-grandchildren, Amanda (Timmy) Evans, Amber Castle, Ashley Castle, Alyson Castle, Aaron Castle. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 30, 2017 at WOLFE-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in Sciotoville with Pastor Ralph Shaffer officiating. Friends may call from 6 - 7 p.m. before the service. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made toward the funeral expenses.
