David E. Weaver, 78, of Wheelersburg passed away Saturday, February 17, 2024 at SOMC Hospice Center in Portsmouth.  He was born April 28, 1945 in Lyra, Ohio to the late Arthur L. and Vina E. (Horner) Weaver.  He was a 1963 graduate of East High School.  David served his country with pride in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War Era, during that time he was stationed in Germany.  He loved watching Nascar and dirt track races.  He enjoyed going to yard sales and listening to music.  His favorite was Classic Country, Bluegrass and the Oldies but Goodies.  David loved tinkering with small engines and could always make them good as new.

David is survived by three sisters, Ruth Duelly and husband Terry, Sandy Johnson and husband Ronnie, and Susan Gerlach; a stepdaughter, Diane Barker and husband Homer;  nine grandchildren, Carey Brabson and husband Nick, Gary Haywood and wife Jennifer, Lisa Kirkpatrick and husband Shane, Jessica Schanafelt and husband Michael, Michelle Haywood, Mia Haywood and Sylvia Neal, Homer Barker Jr. and his wife Tonya, and Joseph Barker and wife Cindy; eighteen great grandchildren and seven great - great grandchildren.  He was also preceded in death by his wife Mary Weaver whom he married on September 23, 1978; three brothers, Thomas Weaver, Robert Weaver, and Arthur "Bo" Weaver Jr.; and two sisters, Virginia Fannin and Mary Ann Abbott.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME (WOLFE - NELSON CHAPEL) in Sciotoville.  Interment will follow at Vernon Cemetery where military graveside rights will be presented by the James Dickey Post #23 of the American Legion.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Online condolences may be left at DWSwickFuneralHome.com.
