Age 95 of Wheelersburg, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth. She was born in Portsmouth on November 22, 1921 to Walter and Garnet (Sparks) Carver. Dodie married her husband Albert on June 28, 1952 and worked at the Williams Shoe Factory for many years. She was a devoted member of the Free Will Baptist Church in Sciotodale for 60 years and during that time served as their church organist. Dodie was a generous and giving person and spent a great deal of time with her nieces and nephews while they were growing up.

She is survived by her nephew, Gilbert "Gib" (Kim) Carver of Sciotoville; three nieces, Brenda (Jim) Caldwell of Wheelersburg, Sandy Carver of Longview, TX, Mitzie Bush of Bradyville, TN; great nieces and nephews; great-great nieces and nephews; and one great-great-great nephew. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert in 1964; two brothers, Herbert and Gilbert Carver; one sister, Virginia Carver; one niece, Phyllis Maddix.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 12, 2017 at WOLFE-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in Sciotoville with Pastor Aaron Reed officiating. Interment will follow at Old Wheelersburg Cemetery.
