Dorothy Lee Sparks

Age 87, of Wheelersburg, formerly of Sciotoville, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at SOMC in Portsmouth with her family by her side. She was born on September 18, 1925 in Kenova, WV to the late Beverly and Adrian (Huff) Ball. Dorothy was a 1944 graduate of Portsmouth High School and a member of Berean Baptist Church in Sciotoville for 58 years where she served as Sunday School teacher and sang in the church choir. More than anything else she enjoyed being a homemaker and spending time with her family. Her sweet spirit and smile will be missed by everyone who loved her.

She is survived by two sons, David (Nancy) Sparks of Haverhill, Timothy (Lisa) Sparks of Sciotoville; three daughters, Barbara Preston of Columbus, Sharon Bays of Sciotoville, Beverly (Paul) Seeley of Wheelersburg; twelve grandchildren, Scott (Emily) Preston, Jennifer Glaze, Doug Bays, Joshua (Kristy) Seeley, Jared Seeley, Jessica (Robbie) Huff, Aaron Seeley, Andrew (Bethany) Sparks, Adam(fiancé Jill Ganschow) Sparks, Stephanie Sparks, Miranda (Craig) Neff, and Brett (Brandi) Sparks; eight great-grandchildren, Mikayla Glaze, Nathan Glaze, Lilu Preston, Ethan Seeley, Noah Seeley, Braelynn Seeley, Wyatt Neff, Marli Neff, and Elias Sparks; one brother, James Ball of TN; one sister, Phyllis (Virgil) Williams of Wheelersburg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Ulysses Stanley Sparks; two brothers, Garnet Ball and Rethal Ball; one sister, Charlene Kowalsky.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2012, at Berean Baptist Church in Sciotoville with Pastor Tim Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Burial Park. Friends may call Friday from 5 - 8 p.m. at WOLFE-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in Sciotoville and one hour prior to the service at the church.
