Dorothy E. Messer, 82, of New Boston died Fri., Feb. 20, 2009. She was born Feb. 14, 1927 in Paw Paw, W.VA., the fourth daughter of the late George and Ethel Youngblood Parlett. She worked at the former Williams Manufacturing Co. and Patterson Paper Box Co. and was a member of Apostolic Gospel Church in Portsmouth. She is survived by two daughters, Debra Wright of New Boston and Sheila Messer of Portsmouth; two sisters, Carolyn Alderton Crabtree of Paw Paw, W.VA. and Margaret Twigg of Boonesboro, MD.; three grandchildren, Ryan Messer of Columbus, Brandy Messer of Portsmouth and Rebecca Wright of Powell, OH.; three great-grandchildren, Mikaela Messer, Raquelle Lopez and Alayna Villeda; a special friend, Flo Hoffman of Hanover, PA. and many neices, nephews and family. She was also preceded in death by her former husband, Cecil Messer; a son-in-law, Frank W. Wright III; four sisters, Ruth Keeney, Goldie Crouse Shade, Irma Messer and Lou Anderson Mobley. Services will be 1 PM Monday, Feb. 23, 2009 at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston with Pastor Robert Coffey officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Burial Park.
