Age 74 of Wheelersburg, died September 25, 2013 at King's Daughters in Ashland, KY. She was born on February 24, 1939 in Majestic, KY to the late Emmitt (Pat) and Elsie (Sanders) Ferrell. On March 30, 1957 she married James B. Phillips and they were married 53 years until his passing on April 27, 2010. Edith enjoyed gardening and feeding the local wild birds. For many years she was active as a Kentucky Colonel in the Eastern Star. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by one son, James B. Phillips III of Portsmouth; two daughters, Tammy Kenney (Anthony) of New Vienna, OH, Dianna Jones of Matewan, WV; two brothers, Lacey Ferrell (Monica) of Phelps, KY, Eddie Ferrell (Alyce) of Georgetown, KY; four sisters, Qualla Mapes of Cincinnati, OH, Tracie Ferrell of Dayton, OH, Mildred Estep of Daytona Beach, FL, Betty Perry (Sonny) of Wilmington, OH; eight grandchildren Jamie (Donald) Storer, Braxton Phillips, Jeremy Grimes, Justin Grimes, Tyler Jones, Ethan Jones, Eli Kenney, Sarah Bratton; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by one brother, Daniel Boone Ferrell; three sisters, Mary Magdaline Ferrell, Dolly Virginia Mapes, Ruby Bingham; three brothers-in-law, Hartzel, Hollis, and Roy.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Wolfe-Nelson Funeral Home in Sciotoville with Ralph Shaffer, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Batterson Cemetery in Harrison Township. Friends may call on Friday from 4 - 7 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour before the service on Saturday.
