Elmer C. Mullins, 72 of Wheelersburg, passed away, Monday, February 15, 2016 at his home surrounded by loved ones after a brief illness. He was born on November 23, 1943 in Scioto County, the son of the late Carl and Freda Cook Mullins. Elmer was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Ralph and Forest Mullins. He was a United States Navy veteran from 1960-1966, Service crewman 2 nd class on the U.S.S. Charles S. Sperry, the Founder of Mullins Construction Company in the late 60's until his retirement in 1998 and a Member of the Wheelersburg Baptist Church since 1972.
Elmer is survived by his wife of 51 years, Judy Lane Binion Mullins of Wheelersburg, 2 sons, Randall (Mary) Mullins and Robert (Lori) Mullins both of Wheelersburg; 4 grandchildren, Alexander, Isaac, Allison and Layton Mullins all of Wheelersburg; siblings, Carl Mullins of Wheelersburg, Wanda (Richard) Burton of Wheelersburg, Henry (Sherry) Mullins of Wheelersburg, John (Nancy) Mullins of Wheelersburg, Ron (Angie) Mullins of Minford and Audrey McGinnis of Wheelersburg; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 19, 2016 at the Wheelersburg Baptist Church, with Pastor Bradley Brandt officiating. Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace, with graveside military rites by American Legions Post 363 and 622. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday and one hour prior to the services on Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Community Hospice in Ashland, KY in Elmer's memory. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.swickbussachamberlin.com
