Age 79, of Sciotoville, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2013 in Columbus. She was born in Sciotoville on October 26, 1933 to Ray and Bricel (Winebrenner) Schafer. "Weezie" was a 1951 graduate of East High and shortly after graduation, married Wells Basham. She was a homemaker, enjoyed knitting and flower gardening, and her beloved cats. A 62-year member of her church, she also served as its custodian and organist for many years. Most of all, Weezie loved sharing time with her friends and family.

She is survived by her husband, Wells; three sons, David (Julie) of Franklin Furnace, Danny (Lisa) of Minford, Tim (Bonnie) of Lucasville; six grandchildren, Nicholas (Renee) Basham, Michael Basham, Breana (Zach) White, Shalyn Basham, Sam Basham, Corey Basham; one brother, Donny Schafer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Vera Bowman.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Christ United Methodist Church in Sciotoville with Pastor Caleb LaFond officiating. Interment will follow in Old Wheelersburg Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday, July 24th from 4 - 7 p.m. at the funeral home or one hour before the service.
