Obituary

Ethel Melinda Jordan, 79, of Portsmouth went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 1, 2008 at SOMC Hospice Center. She was born January 23, 1929 in Scioto County a daughter of the late Clarence Shuff Sr. and Hazel (Fergson) Shuff. Ethel was a homemaker and member of Bible Chapel in West Portsmouth. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Delbert Jordan; a son, Ray Weeks of Wheelersburg and a daughter, Deanna Shoemaker of Minford; stepchildren, Rick (Kim) Jordan of Waverly, Diana (Jack) Lore of Minford, Debra (Charles) Brown of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Donna (Steve) Mains of Pickerington, OH., Della (Jeff) Dresback of Reynoldsburg, OH. and Dwana (Jeff) Dodge of Minford; six brothers, Clarence (Edna Mae) Shuff Jr. of South Webster, Ted Shuff of Franklin Furnace, Roy Shuff of Scioto Furnace, Dale (Sharon) Shuff of Wheelersburg, Frank (Nancy) Shuff of Wheelersburg and Roger (Bonnie) Shuff of Wheelersburg; two sisters, Louise (Larry) Wright of Wheelersburg and Dottie (Harold) Percell of Wheelersburg; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.Ethel was also preceded in death by a sister, Irene Winn Stone and an infant brother, Jimmy Ray Shuff. Services will be 11 AM Thursday, December 4, 2008 at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston with Pastor Jack Lore officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Burial Park. Visitation will be Wednesday 12 Noon to 3 PM and 5 to 9 PM and Thursday 10 to 11 AM at D.W. Swick in New Boston. Online condolences may be sent to dwswickfuneralhome.com.
