Eugene Luther, 82, of Portsmouth, died Wednesday September 30, 2009 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth. He was born July 13, 1927 in Pennsylvania to the late Thomas and Rosie Luther. Eugene was married on February 3, 1963 in Portsmouth to Alta Huston. He worked at the Pre-Cast Block Plant in Portsmouth until his retirement. Eugene attended Camp Bennett Christian Baptist Church and loved spending time with his family. Eugene is survived by his wife, Alta Huston Luther, two sons, David Luther of Portsmouth and Bobby Luther (Tracy) of Portsmouth, a daughter, Janet Snook (Jeffrey) of Portsmouth, four grandchildren, Courtney Snook, Shane Snook, Isaac Luther, and Noah Luther. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, October 3, 2009 at the Wolfe-Nelson Funeral Home in Sciotoville. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Friday from 6-8 PM, and again on Saturday, one hour before the service. Wolfe-Nelson Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
