Age 88, of Franklin Furnace, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2013 at her home. She was born on May 2, 1925 in Clinton Furnace to King David and Mary Mollie (Horsley) Madden. She was of the Pentecostal faith and a member of the Howard Furnace Pentecostal Church. Flossie loved the outdoors and enjoyed gardening, picking berries, and exploring the hollows near her home. More than anything she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by one son, David (Rita) Messer of Franklin Furnace; three sisters, Mildred Ferrell (Ralph) of Wheelersburg, Myrtle Jones of New Boston, Madgie McCoy (John) of Holly, MI; one brother, Russell Madden of Franklin Furnace; many special nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Arthur Messer; one daughter, Stella Otworth; three brothers; two sisters.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 19. 2013 at Wolfe-Nelson Funeral Home in Sciotoville with Pastor Dan Rapp officiating. Interment will follow at Vernon Cemetery in Wheelersburg. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 - 11 prior to the service. Online condolences may be left at www.WolfeNelsonFuneralHome.com.
