Freddie "Fred" Simmering, 84, of Rubyville, passed away Sunday September 25, 2022 at SOMC Hospice Center. He was born February 14, 1938 in South Webster, a son of the late William and Edna (Kelly) Simmering. He was formerly employed as Route Manager at Coca Cola. He enjoyed working on cars, working on things around the house and cooking.

Fred is survived by his wife, Sally (Newkirk) Simmering; a son, Freddie Simmering and wife Amber of Portsmouth; two daughters, Cindy Book and husband Jeff of Portsmouth and Miriam Simmering of Athens; a brother, Lehman Simmering of Oak Hill; two sisters, Minnie Adams of Wheelersburg , Linda Hoover and husband Gary of South Webster; six grandchildren, Lilly, William, Alessa, Heather, Nathan and Keith and 3 great-grandchildren; two very special friends, Chris McCleese and Bob Pelphrey.

He was also preceded in death by brothers, Clarence, Arthur "Bennie",  William Simmering and sister, Frieda Johnson.
Funeral services will be 4 PM Thursday September 29, 2022 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in South Webster with Pastor Calvin Ray Evans officiating. Interment will follow at South Webster Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:30-4:00 PM at the funeral home.
