Garnet L. Evans went to be with the Lord Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Heartland of Portsmouth. She was born September 21, 1916 in Kaymore, W.V. to Charles and Flossie (Hayes) Benner. On June 25, 1938 in Paris, KY Garnet married Clarence Evans who preceded her in death in 1994. She liked to cook and loved sewing and making clothing for her family. She is survived by one son, Larry Evans (Melanie) of Columbus; 3 grandchildren, Elizabeth Piersol (James) of Erie, PA, Christopher Evans (Tricia Sprankle) of Columbus, and Jennifer Evans of Columbus; 4 great-grandchildren, James Piersol, Matthew Piersol, Amanda Evans, Caroline Evans. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Roy, Jesse, and Charles Benner; and one sister, Christine Maphet. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 29th at Wolfe-Nelson Funeral Home in Sciotoville with Pastor Nelson Klaiber officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg. Friends may call Saturday morning from 9 - 10:30 at the funeral home. Arrangements are being handled by Wolfe-Nelson Funeral Home.
