Gene Bond, 80 of Haverhill, passed away, Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at his residence. He was born May 28, 1935 in Lawrence County, the son of the late Frank and Lena Rivers Burgraff Bond. Gene was also preceded in death by one son, James Derek Bond; 3 brother, Charles, Ed and Carl Bond and 2 sisters, Faye Harris and Gloria Bryant. He was formerly employed with Ashland Asphalt Paving, Tri Cities Paving and was a member of the Laborers Local 1445.

Gene is survived by his wife, Wanda Lee (Graff) Bond, whom he married on June 21, 1975 in Haverhill; 3 children, Charles Ryan (Makenna) Bond of Victorville, CA, Genie Maynard (Greg Lewis) of Haverhill and Errol Bond of Ashland, KY; grandchildren Rylee Derek Maynard, Emmalee Paige Maynard, Jolee Addison Maynard, Mila Lynn Bond, Brian Allen Bond and Stacy Bond Adkins; 3 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2016 at the Haverhill United Methodist Church in Haverhill, with Pastor Bob Morrow officiating. Interment will follow at Haverhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. on Saturday and one hour prior to the service on Sunday all at the church.
