IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gregory Lee
Wilson
June 5, 1950 – October 30, 2024
Gregory Lee Wilson, 74, of Warren, OH, entered into eternal rest on October 30th, 2024.
He was born on June 5th, 1950, in Warren, OH, to William Edward Wilson and Lola Faye Lyons. He spent his formative years traveling as an Army brat, calling Belton, Texas and Munich, Germany home. He returned to Warren and graduated from Niles McKinley High School in 1969. Gregory was one of three siblings, Cookie, who preceded him in death, and Paul John McGowan.
Gregory served in the U.S. Army as part of the 191st Bounty Hunters in Vietnam from 1970 to 1973, when he was Honorably Discharged. During his time in the Army, he earned his helicopter repair certification and was honored as first-in-class while in training. He later flew combat assault inserts along the Cambodian border and South Vietnamese coastline as Crew Chief Door Gunner.
After Vietnam, Gregory worked for the Packard Electric Company as a line technician until he retired in 2005, and was also a home builder and carpenter. He also held various positions including bridge maintenance in San Diego, CA, and selling insurance in Warren, OH.
Gregory is survived by 3 children: TJ Wilson, Michael (Tessa) Wilson, and Patricia Wilson.
Gregory was a true American original. He loved Westerns and horses, and riding his Harley Davidson. He enjoyed boating and would spend time with friends and family fishing at Geneva-on-the-Lake, OH, as well as in his retirement in West Palm Beach and Key Largo, FL. He was loyal to a fault and would always stand up for the underdog. He loved his children fiercely, was always there for a kind word and support, and always made sure to take care of those who took care of him.
