Obituary

Harlan J. Wagoner, 84, of Sciotoville, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. Born on February 22, 1942, in Portsmouth, Ohio, he was the son of the late Harlan and Helen (Sparks) Wagoner.

Harlan proudly served his country in the United States Air Force before beginning a career as a corrections officer at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility, where he dedicated many years of service. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he found great pleasure in model railroading. Harlan also loved shooting pool, riding bicycles, and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his sons, Harlan "JJ" (Kelly) Wagoner Jr. of Cincinnati and Christopher Wagoner of Minneapolis; his daughter, Kelley (Bo) Wheelock of South Shore; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends who will cherish his memory.

In addition to his parents, Harlan was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Ann (Buchannan) Wagoner, and his sister, Carolyn Clifford.

Graveside Service will take place Tuesday, August 11, 2026, 10:00 AM, Memorial Burial Park, Funeral Services have been entrusted to D. W. Swick & Son Funeral and Cremation Services.
