Helen I. Miller Adams passed from this life to her eternal home on Wednesday, August 24, 2016. She was 93 years of age. Mrs. Adams was born in Scioto County on November 15, 1922, the oldest daughter of Joseph Henry Miller and Elsie Gertrude Winters Miller. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Harold W. Adams, her parents, a brother, Harold Miller and a sister, Ruth Miller Jordan.

She is survived by her 5 children, Patricia Bennett (Gus), Betty Litz (Ron), Nancy Shuff (Frank), Mike Adams (Cheryl) and Brenda Straits (Zach) as well as 8 grandchildren, Carla Bennett Twinam, Scott Bennett, Brian Shuff, Michelle Adams Maynard, Crystal Shuff, Steven Adams, Paula Adams Maynard, and Jeremy Adams; 15 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren, along with several nieces and a nephew.

Helen graduated from Lindsay School. Her favorite memory was playing forward on the girls' basketball team. As a child, she enjoyed visits with her Grandma and Grandpa Winters on their farm in Lawrence County.

She married Harold Adams on July 22, 1939. Helen was a supportive wife, wonderful homemaker, loving mother and an excellent cook. Thanksgiving turkey dressing, homemade noodles & fruit drop cookie recipes will be enjoyed by her family for years to come.

She loved time spent baking and decorating cakes for friends and family. Her favorite hobby was crochet. Her doilies, tablecloths and many other projects are treasured by many. Helen enjoyed working in her flower gardens. She also collected angels and treasured her beloved dog, Honey Bear.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at the Swick-Bussa-Chamberlin Funeral Home in Wheelersburg, with Pastor Larry Ison officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Garden in Franklin Furnace. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
