Age 88 of Columbus, formerly of Portsmouth, went to be with the Lord October 13, 2016 in Columbus. She was born November 16, 1927 in Sciotoville to George and Sarah Mae (Stapleton) Sullivan. She worked for many years with the Portsmouth City School System as a Head Cook. She enjoyed bowling, bingo, game shows, and listening to country music. She was a longtime member of the VFW auxiliary and was of the Baptist faith.
Helen is survived by three sons, Tom Sullivan of Groveport, Gary (Rena) Ruckel of Whitehall, Teddy (Cheryl) Ruckel of Worthington; four grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Elizabeth Brown and Edna Holland, both of Springfield. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Chester; two brothers, Arthur and Clyde Sullivan; two sisters, Hazel Messer and Shirley Blake.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 21, 2016 at WOLFE-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in Sciotoville with Pastor Jim Benner officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12 – 2 p.m before the service.
