Herman Ray Yates, 80 of Wheelersburg, died Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at his residence. He was born April 6, 1934 in Portsmouth, the son of the late Thomas Jefferson and Agnes Mae Flynn Yates. He was also preceded in death by 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Herman had worked for the Teamsters Local 175 as a truck driver and was of the Baptist Faith.

Herman is survived by his wife, Betty Lou Wallace Yates, whom he married on March 28, 1953 in Scioto County; 2 sons, Randy (Penny Brown) Yates of Wheelersburg and Rick (Amy) Yates of Portsmouth; 2 daughters, Debbie Yates of Wheelersburg and Deana Yates of Chillicothe; 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the Swick-Bussa-Chamberlin Funeral Home in Wheelersburg with Scot Markle officiating. Interment will be in Vernon Cemetery.
