Irene Barnett, 78, of Wheelersburg died Thursday July 3, 2014 at SOMC Hospice Center. She was born February 20, 1936 in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late George and Bertha Fannin Lawson. She was a former Dietary Manager at Edgewood Manor and attended Stoney Run Freewill Baptist Church. She is survived by 3 sons, Jerry Barnett of South Webster, Gary Barnett and her ex-daughter in law Charlene of Wheelersburg and Terry (Laura) Barnett of South Webster; 3 sisters, Evelyn Pierce of Wheelersburg, Louise Holsinger of Portsmouth and Helena Lawson of Oak Hill; 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren and several step brothers and sisters. She was also preceded in death by her husband Raymond Barnett; brothers, Eugene, Virgil and George Lawson and Tommy Simpson; 2 sisters, Mary Sharp and Sylvena Hilt and a niece Wanda Wilburn. Services will be 2 PM Tuesday July 8, 2014 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME IN SOUTH WEBSTER with Pastors Merit Smith and Craddock Frye officiating. Interment will follow at South Webster cemetery.
