Obituary

James C. "Calhoun" Lawhun, 78, of South Webster, died Monday, June 6, 2011, at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth. He was born March 14, 1933 in New Boston, Oh, son of the late William and Roseanna Penix Lawhun. "Calhoun" was a machinist at Empire Detroit Steel and served in the US Army during the Korean conflict. He was a member of the Western Sun Masonic Lodge #91. He attended the Wesleyan Church of South Webster and the Bussey Hill Chapel. He is survived by his wife, Mary "Sis" Stiles Lawhun, whom he married Feb. 6, 1956 in Wheelersburg. He is also survived by one son, Odie (Karen) Lawhun of South Webster; one daughter, Lisa (Greg) Lewis of Wheelersburg; two special nieces that were like daughters, Tina (Trent) Canter of Wheelersburg and Derria (Shawn) Kelley of Minford; a special friend, Stan Rawlins; three sisters, Betty (Gene) Chamberlin of Wheelersburg, Tiny Fannin of South Shore, Erma Lewis of Tampa, FL; four grandchildren, Corey and Tanner Lawhun and Dillan and Daylor Lewis; three great nieces and nephews, Tori Canter, Kelton and Kaden Kelley. He was also preceded in death by his niece Polly Stiles Hilt. Services will be 1PM Friday, June 10, 2011 at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in South Webster with Pastor Paul Willis Hagen officiating. Burial will be at South Webster Cemetery with graveside military honors by James Dickey Post 23, American Legion. Visitation will be Thursday 5 to 8 PM with Masonic Services at 8 PM at D.W.
