Age 75 of Wheelersburg, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth. He was born in Pound, VA on May 13, 1942 to Ernest and Nila (Stanley) Ratliff. James was a U.S. Army Veteran and was a self-employed truck driver for many years. He not only worked with trucks, he loved being around trucks in his spare time as well. He was always working on trucks and whatever needed to be repaired. In addition to his love of all things trucking, he also enjoyed gardening.

He is survived by one son, James (Rebakah) Ratliff of Portsmouth; brother, Herscal (Velma) Ratliff of Marion, IN; sisters, Jean Fairchild of Proctorville, Anita Grifith of Olney, IL, Linda Hines of Gas City, IN, Joyce Howell of Gas City, IN; grandchild, Christa Ratliff; and great-grandchild, Kaydance Ratliff. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ada; son, John Ratliff; brothers, Paul and Allen Ratliff; sister, Helen Younce.
