James Marvin Rawlins, 82, of Wheelersburg, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, April 18, 2026.
Born on May 10, 1943, in South Webster, Ohio, he was the son of the late Clifford and Oney (Williams) Rawlins.
James dedicated many years of hard work as a concrete finisher and was a proud member of Laborers Union Local 83 until his retirement. He was known for his strong work ethic and his ability to build and fix just about anything. In his free time, he found great joy in home improvement projects, tending to his garden, and caring for his cattle and chickens. He valued a simple life rooted in family, land, and tradition.
On April 12, 1969, he married the love of his life, Janet (Moore) Rawlins, with whom he shared 57 wonderful years of marriage.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janet; two sons, Duane Rawlins of Wheelersburg and Darren (Wendy) Rawlins of Lucasville; two daughters, Mandy (Jeff) Powell of Lucasville, Sandy Rawlins (Jackie Longfellow) of Wheelersburg; five grandchildren, Matt Rawlins, Laiken Longfellow, Allison Wurts, Madison Aeh, and Brycen Longfellow; and one great-granddaughter, Timberlyn Rawlins. He is also survived by his sister, Darlene (Galen) Blair.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Evelyn Ashley, and Alma Rawlins; and eleven brothers, Jesse, Tiny, Raymond, Clifford Jr., Walter, Orville, Leroy, Herbert, Arthur, Harvey, and Ernie Rawlins.
James will be remembered for his quiet strength, his devotion to his family, and the legacy of hard work and care he leaves behind. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, April 23, 2026, at 2:00 PM, D.W. Swick & Son Funeral and Cremation Services in South Webster, with Brother Stephen Curry, interment to follow at Memorial Burial Park. Visitation will be from 12:00- 2:00 PM, prior to the service.
