Obituary

James L. Slone, 86, of South Webster, passed away Monday July 21, 2025 at SOMC Hospice Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 10, 1939 in Thacker, WV, a son of the late Kernie and Minnie (Burton) Slone.

He served in the U.S. Army and was a retired mechanic from Hanes Chevrolet. He enjoyed watching Westerns on TV, playing the Lottery and would go all out on his Christmas Decorations.

James is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Rosemary Walls Slone; two sons, Rodney Slone and Kevin Slone both of South Webster; a sister Dorothy Loraine Lewis of Lucasville along with three grandchildren, Rebekah, Rachael and Victoria and a great grandchild on the way.

Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by seven brothers, John W. Slone, Robert V. Slone, Thomas S. Slone, Kernie W. Slone, William E. Slone, Emmit E. Slone and Russell D. Slone along with a sister, Marie Gail Smith and a grandchild Allison.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Friday July 25, 2025 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in South Webster with Pastor Merit Smith officiating. Interment will follow at South Webster Cemetery with Military Graveside Honors provided by James Dickey Post 23, American Legion. Visitation will be 6 to 8 PM Thursday and one hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home.
