Jane Hightower, 77, of Wheelersburg, died Saturday, August 20, 2011 at Southern Ohio Medical Center. She was born May 25, 1934, a daughter of the late Eddie and Darlene Ferrell. She retired in 1975 as a cook for Bloom-Vernon Schools. Jane is surived by five sons; Charles Hightower (Linda) of Dayton, David Hightower (Libby) of Harlan, Ky, Garry Hightower (Mary) of Portsmouth, Terry Hightower (De) of Wheelersburg, Virgil Hightower of Wheelersburg; five daughters, Freida Noe (Jim) of Barboursville, Ky, Linda Barfield of Oak Hill, Delores "Sugar" Stewart (Monty Leonard) of Oak Hill, Phyllis Lockert (Morty) of South Webster, Vera Roof of South Webster; one sister, Evelyn Rue (Dan) of Xenia; two special relatives, Dana Hightower and Patty Hightower; 24 grandchildren; 29 great-granchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Lee Hightower; three sons, Eric, Larry, and Doug Hightower; and a special friend, James Robinson. Services will be 2pm, Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in South Webster with Pastor Randy Schintzius officiating. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday 5-8 and one hour prior to the service at D. W. Swick in South Webster. Condolences to dwswickfuneralhome.com.
