Janice Marie Rider Redding, 63, died Saturday, April 4, 2009, after a long battle with cancer. Born in Portsmouth, Ohio on June 19, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Oleeta Crawford Rider. She graduated from Minford High School in 1963 and worked as a bank teller for several years before her marriage to Jim Redding on June 3, 1967. Jan was a wonderful wife, mother, and Christian lady. She spent the majority of her life as a dedicated homemaker, caring for her sons and her husband of 41 years. Jan was also an avid traveler. She is survived by her husband, Jim; two sons, Scott Redding of Miami, FL and Timothy Redding of McLean, VA; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Carolyn Rider of Sciotoville. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday April 8th at the Wolfe-Nelson Funeral Home in Sciotoville with visitation from 10-11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials for Jan may be directed to the Good Samaritan Fund, Palmetto Church of Christ, 7000 Nursery Road, Columbia, SC 29212. Wolfe-Nelson Funeral Home in Sciotoville is handling the arrangements.
