Joann Burke, 64, of Portsmouth, died Saturday, July 17, 2010 at SOMC Hospice Center. She was born May 15, 1946 in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late William and Mae Snipes Gillespie. She was formerly employeed at Hempstead Manor as a housekeeper and was a member of the American Legion Post 471 Ladies Aux. and the Eagles Club. Joann is survived by a son, Robert E. Schiltz and wife Diemchi of San Jose, CA; a daughter, Lisa M. Schiltz of Stout; 5 grandchildren, Justin Schiltz, Krisie Schiltz, Alec Brown, Destiny Schiltz and Preston Schiltz and a great-grandson, Landon Schiltz. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, James Albert Schiltz and James F. Burke. Services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston with Pastor Jack Howard officiating. Burial will be at worley's run cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday 11 AM to 1 PM at the funeral home.
