Age 73 of Wheelersburg, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth. She was born on July 11, 1938 in Portsmouth to Russell and Margaret Alberta (Bennett) McGlone, was a 1956 graduate of Portsmouth West High School, and was of the Methodist faith. Joann retired after 34 years working at the county and state level, spending many years as a Field Representative for Representative Sherrod Brown. She stayed very busy in her retirement. She volunteered for the SOMC Gift Shop, was a member of the Scioto County Professional Women's Club, and was very active in the Democratic Party. Joann is survived by one son, Brian (Doris) Hood of Wheelersburg; one sister, Shirley (Bob) Hammock of Cabot, AR; six grandchildren, Breanna and Brooklyn Hood of Minford, Jessica and Freddie Bowens of Wheelersburg, Jessica and Andrea Wise of Ashland; two great-grandchildren, Austin Atchison, Maryah Deck; longtime significant friend, John R. Estep of West Portsmouth; his daughter and son-in-law, Pam (Todd) Wise of Ashland. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at Wolfe-Nelson Funeral Home in Sciotoville with Pastor Ralph Schisler officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace. Friends may call on Tuesday from 5 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home or one hour before the service.
