Joanne Smith, 93, of Wheelersburg, passed away on November 5, 2024, at SOMC Hospice Center in Portsmouth. She was born on September 7, 1931, to the late Ralph and Faye (Jones) Gilpin in New Boston, Ohio. Joanne was a die-hard Burg fan and enjoyed cooking. She dedicated 24 years of her career to Deemer's Market.

Joanne is survived by her two sons, Mark Smith (Sherry) of Decatur, IL, and Tim Smith of Wheelersburg; an adopted daughter, Lori Smith of Wheelersburg; and her grandchildren, Aaron, Brandon, Clayton, Isabella, along with four grandchildren, Max, Hadley, Josalyn, and Tyler . She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Smith, her infant daughter, Donna, her brother, Junie, and her two sisters, Mary Bush and Dorothy Carter.
