Rev. John Martin, 81, of Portsmouth died Fri. Nov. 29, 2013 at his residence. He was born March 11, 1932 in Portsmouth, a son of the late John and Creasey Snyder Martin. John was the Pastor of Temple Faith Church in West Portsmouth and a Minford High School graduate. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Miller Martin; a sister, Emma Jean Adkins of Portsmouth; 2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a son, James W. Martin; a daughter, Sharon D. Brown; 4 brothers, Ralph, Norman, Raymond and Lawrence Martin; 2 sisters, Aletha Martin and Eveleen Cartmill and a great grandchild. Services will be 1:00 PM Monday Dec. 2, 2013 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME IN NEW BOSTON with Rev. Dan Pennington officiating. Interment will follow at Vernon cemetery.
