John Samuel "Sam" Pennington, 65, of Vinton passed away Thursday October 28, 2021 at Holzer Medical Center.  He was born June 26, 1956 in Columbus, a son of  Alva (Lambert) McCoy of Rio Grande and the late James R. Pennington. John enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing, listening to music, watching TV, especially the History Channel, Judge Judy and piddling around in his garage.
Besides his mother, John is survived by his wife, Cassandra (Dalton) Pennington; sons, John S. Pennington Jr. of Columbus and Raymond S. Pennington of Rushville; a daughter, Lutetia I. Pennington of Rushville; step-daughter, Rachael Payton of Columbus; a brother, Jim Pennington of Upper Arlington; grandchildren, John Pennington III, Kam Pennington; step-grandchildren, Melanie Miller, Kyrstin Miller, Ava Wright, Bailey Wright, Kynleigh Wright and step-father, Bill McCoy.
Funeral services will be 11:30 AM Tuesday November 2, 2021 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in South Webster with Pastor Danny Lambert officiating. Visitation will be 10 AM to 11:30 Tuesday at the funeral home. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 PM at Glen Rest Cemetery in Reynoldsburg.
