Karen L. Humphrey, 81, of Wheelersburg, passed away Friday November 18, 2022 at SOMC Hospice Center. She was born July 22, 1941 in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late Howard and Margaret (Allard) Howell.
She was a lifelong member of the Sciotoville Christian Church where she was Baptized in 1950 and was very active in Vacation Bible School. She was a 1959 graduate of East High School then went on to receive her Masters in Education from Ohio University Athens. She taught Special Education at the former Wilson School for 34 years. After retirement, she continued to do home schooling for the next 10 years. She loved to read and was always helping others.
Karen is survived by her husband Paul Humphrey whom she married in 1965; a brother, J. Howell and wife Connie of Peebles; a sister, Janice Edwards and husband Lonnie of Portsmouth and eight nephews.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday November 22, 2022 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME (Wolfe-Nelson Chapel ) in Sciotoville with pastor Steve Falls officiating. Private interment will follow at Memorial Burial Park. Visitation will be 4  to 6 PM Monday and 12 Noon to 1 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
