Kathie Sue Spears, 68, of Batavia, passed away Sunday January 1, 2023. She was born May 10, 1954 in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late James and Rosemary (Hook) Darby.

She was a 1973 graduate of Wheelersburg High School, enjoyed painting, ceramics and working puzzles. She loved taking care of everyone, especially her children and grandchildren.

Kathie is survived by a daughter, Mandie Allen of Batavia; a brother, James L. Darby and wife June of Daytona Beach, FL; three sisters, Cyndie Lou Longacre of Waynesville, Laura Briggs of Batavia and Deanna Kay Adams of Wheelersburg; three grandchildren, Dustin Stiltner, Jeremy Stiltner,  Devin Cobern and 6 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son Rick Cobern.

Funeral Services will be 7:00 PM Thursday January 5, 2023 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in Wheelersburg with Pastor Sean Ireland officiating. Interment will take place at a later date at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 5 to 7 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
