Kathy Nadine Russell, 60, of Portsmouth passed away on Friday, July 22, 2011 at SOMC Hospice. She was born in Lawrence County, KY on June 26, 1951 to Ulysses S. and Myrtle Gilliam. On June 28, 1968 she married Gregory H. Russell to whom she was married for 43 years. In addition to being a homemaker, Kathy spent over 30 years as a nurse tech, primarily at SOMC Intensive Care Unit. She loved yard sales, her flower garden, hummingbirds and more than anything else spending time with her beloved family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Gregory; one son, Gregory H. (Jolene Fargo) Russell of South Webster; three daughters, Tonya Russell of Franklin Furnace, Candy Russell (fiance Jim Schmidt) of Lucasville, and Lindsey Verne (Rick) of Hillsboro; two brothers, Julian (Florence Ann) Gilliam of Athens, TX, and Curtis Gilliam of Garrett, KY; four sisters, Carol Pennington (Clay) of Martha, KY, Myrtle Faye Skaggs (Silas) of Sandy Hook, KY, Lois Holsinger of Sandy Hook, KY, and Charlene Hunt (Edwin) of Plain City, OH; four grandchildren, Jimmy Pack, Miranda Porter, Taylor Pack, and Brianna Hayslip. In addition to her parents, Kathy was predeceased by one brother, Ulysses "Red " Gilliam, Jr. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 25, 2011 at Wolfe-Nelson Funeral Home in Sciotoville with Pastor Jim Harper officiating. Interment will be in Haverhill Cemetery in Franklin Furnace. Friends may call on Sunday, July 24th from 4 - 7 at the funeral home or one hour before the service on Monday.
