"Sarge" Henry
March 12, 1928 – July 7, 2013
Age 85, of Wheelersburg, died Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Concord Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born March 12, 1928 in Superior, OH to Charles F. and Mary (Miller) Henry. He graduated from high school in Pedro and joined the army in 1950, attended basic training at Fort Benning, GA, and served in Germany, Korea, and Vietnam. "Sarge" retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years. The final five years he was a drill instructor at Fort Dix. Kenneth attended Shumway Free Will Baptist Church, was a member of the VFW Post 23, American Veterans, and was a life member of the D.A.V.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine; son, Kevin Henry of Ironton; daughter, Sheryl Ann Prince of Ironton; three sisters, Donna Faye Wild (Bob) of Ironton, Nancy Henry of Minford, Kay Henry of Wheelersburg; brother, John Henry of Wheelersburg; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many close friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Williams and brother, Jack Henry.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at WOLFE - NELSON FUNERAL HOME in Sciotoville with Pastor Tony Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in Vernon Cemetery with military honors provided by the James Dickey Post #23. Friends may call Tuesday from 4 - 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home Wolfe - Nelson Funeral Home in Sciotoville is handling the arrangements.
