Kenneth Galen Turner, 85, passed away peacefully at 4:33 p.m. on Sept. 13, 2011 at his home, attended by loving family members, after fighting a long and courageous battle with cancer. A long time resident of Gephart Road near Wheelersburg, Ohio, Kenneth was born and raised on Gephart Road. The 8th of 11 children born to the late Frederick and Eva Yates Turner, he was the beloved husband of Delores Turner for over 57 years. He also leaves behind a brother and sister-in-law, David and Ruby Turner of Brookville; a son and daughter-in-law, Terrence and Dawn Turner of Raymond; three daughters and sons-in-laws, Denise and Joseph Dixon of Mountain View, Missouri, Kimberly and Howard Reynolds of Jackson, and Deborah and James Friend of Wheelersburg; 22 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Kenneth was preceded in death by 5 sisters, Margaret Bennington, Wilma Crawford, Bernice Stetzinger, Imogene Newsome, and Wanda Miles; 4 brothers, Donald, Frederick Jr., Robert, Wells, and by infant granddaughter, Kristen Reynolds and infant great-grandson, Benjamin Carter. Mr. Turner served in the Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946. He worked at General Motors, Frigidaire division, in Dayton, Ohio for 26 years, where he and Delores raised their four children until, after retiring from Frigidaire, he and Delores and their three youngest children moved to Gephart Road in 1973, bringing Kenneth back to the home of his birth. There he enjoyed farming, gardening, and attending his church, South Webster Baptist for many years. Friends and family are invited to attend visitation at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in South Webster this Friday from 5 to 8 pm. Services will be held 2 pm on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011 at South Webster Baptist Church. Interment will be in a family plot at South Webster Cemetery.
