Kevin J.
Yeager
August 30, 1954 – May 28, 2026
.
Kevin Yeager, 71, of Portsmouth, Ohio, passed away on May 28, 2026. Born to Charles Jacob Yeager and Nora Margaret Silk Yeager, Kevin was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Susan Diane Kiser Yeager; daughter Kara Copeland (Trevor); son Matthew Yeager (Juliann); five grandchildren, McGwire Garrison, Liam Garrison, Rowan Yeager, Isabella Yeager, and Shannon Copeland; brothers Greg Yeager (Marlene) and Chris Yeager (Deborah); sisters Wendy Blankenbicker (Jeff) and Heidi Garland (Jack); and many nieces and nephews.
Kevin devoted his life to ministry as an evangelist in the Christian Churches/Churches of Christ, working tirelessly to unite Christians by modeling the teachings described in the New Testament. He was educated at Kentucky Christian College and Summit Theological Seminary. He served congregations in White Oak, Prestonsburg, and St. Paul, Kentucky; Sciotoville and McConnelsville, Ohio; and Elkins, West Virginia. In 1987, he became an associate evangelist with Person to Person Ministries.
Ever committed to nurturing future evangelists, Kevin later established Gap Ministries to recruit preachers and founded the GAP Youth Preaching Camp. He also served on mission trips to the Philippines, Belarus, and Guyana. Recognized as a biblical scholar from the pulpit, on the radio, and through many published articles, Kevin had a rare gift for taking complex ideas and making them accessible to everyone he taught.
Kevin loved playing guitar and singing music, especially with his grandchildren. He also had a deep sense of awe for the mystery of the outdoors, which he passed on to his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered for his boldness, gentle wisdom, steadfast faith, and great sense of humor—usually at the expense of his many close friends. But most of all, he will be remembered for his unwavering love for his wife, children, grandchildren, and extended Pennsylvania family. He will be missed by many.
Visitation is Friday, June 5, 2026, 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Funeral Service will be Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 11:00 AM, interment to follow at Memorial Burial Park; with a visitation beginning at 10:00 AM.
