Age 78 of Sciotoville went to be with the Lord on Christmas Day at SOMC. A native of Blue River, Floyd County, KY, she was born on April 6, 1933 to James and Sally (Hale) Wallen. She was a member of the East High School 1950 graduating class. Leona worked as a photographer's tinting artist, a nurse for many years, and as an employee of Williams Shoe Factory. She was a longtime and devoted member of the Rivers of Joy Church in Minford. In her spare time she wrote poetry, enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, gardening, and hunting for arrowheads. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. Leona is survived by four sons; Michael Arthur of Sciotoville, Daniel (Joanie) Arthur of Justin, TX, Jeff (Angie) Arthur of Grand Prairie, TX, and Scott (Cheryl) Arthur of Covington, KY; one daughter, Sheri (Michael) Blalock of Grand Prairie, TX; fourteen grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and ex-husband and friend Clint (Patti) Arthur. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Wolfe-Nelson Funeral Home in Sciotoville with her grandson, Rev. Clint Blalock, officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg. Friends may call Tuesday from 4 - 7 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
