Obituary

Leslie (Les) Lloyd Wilson
Les Wilson, age 90, formerly of Sciotoville, passed away on November 15, 2022. Because he had placed his faith and trust in Jesus Christ, Heaven is his eternal home. Les was born December 27, 1931, to Frank and Catherine (Cooper) Wilson of Sciotoville.
Les graduated from East High School and shortly afterward married Janet L. Hoover of Wheelersburg.
He began work at the Steel Mill where he remained for over 30 years. He was hired as a clerk and
retired as foreman of the Coke Plant Division.
Les's life was characterized by a love for God and service to others. He was a longtime member of
Berean Baptist Church in Sciotoville. He served God through faithful support of church ministries
including singing in the church choir and serving as church custodian. He volunteered at church camp
held at Camp Oyo for many summers as lifeguard, calisthenics leader, and doing any job that was
needed. One of the highlights for the campers was the exciting and exhausting hike through the Wayne
Forest. Although he knew exactly where he was leading them, many campers were sure they were lost.
He served widows, friends, and others in need by skillfully doing necessary repairs and other practical
helps. He devoted many years to the care of both his disabled stepson and his wife's aging stepfather.
After retiring from the Steel Mill, Les moved to La Vergne, Tennessee, where he was responsible for
the facilities at La Vergne High School for over 10 years.
As a young man Les became a Freemason, eventually fulfilling the requirements to be a 32 degree
Mason.
Les was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Lila June Fultz and Elizabeth Ann Fankell Vallery,
brother Don Wilson, first wife Janet L. (Hoover) Wilson, son Michael Ray Wilson, daughter Becky Sue
Rollins, and son-in-law John D. Rollins II.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters Cathy Wilson, Barbara (Richard) Gilcher, Jean
(Bruce) Clay, his son Mark (Crystal) Wilson, his second wife Marilyn Wilson, and stepsons Preston
(Rosemary) Marlin and John Marlin, 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-
grandchildren.
