Obituary

Age 97, of Sciotoville, passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2012, at Hempstead Manor in Portsmouth. She was born on December 9, 1914, in Sciotoville to John and Clara (Emnett) Sommer, was a member of the 1932 graduating class of Sciotoville High School (East), and attended Portsmouth Business College. On October 12, 1943, she married John F. Weber at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Madelyn worked for Colonial Finance Company for 14 years and was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and the Ladies Guild.

She is survived by one daughter, Susan (Harry) Goldsmith of Cerritos, CA; 3 grandsons, Jon (Jennifer) Goldsmith of Omaha, NE, Mark (Shannon) Goldsmith of Fullerton, CA, Brian (Maria) Goldsmith of Buena Park, CA; 4 great-grandchildren, Ashley and Ryan Goldsmith of Omaha, NE, Benjamin and Noah Goldsmith of Fullerton, CA. In addition to her parents, Madelyn was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Weber, and sister, Mildred Sommer Aeh.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Portsmouth with Father Dwayne McNew officiating. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery in Wheelersburg. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home with a rosary service held at 7:45. There will also be visitation at the church one hour prior to the Funeral Mass on Wednesday. Online condolences may be sent to www.WolfeNelsonFuneralHome.com.
