Mark William Gilliam, 53, of Minford, died Wednesday April 7, 2010 at home after a valiant fight with cancer. He was born January 16, 1957 in Portsmouth, a son of Bill and Sandy Gilliam of Eden Park. He proudly served 4 years in the U.S. Marine Corp and was honorably discharged as a SGT. E-5 in 1979. He attended Cedar Street Church of Christ in Christian Union as a child and young adult and was a 22 year member of Carpenters Local 437. He is also survived by his wife, Emily Starrett Gilliam; two sons, Mark Edward Gilliam of Philidelphia, PA. and Zachary Wyatt Gilliam of Manchester; two daughters, Angela Dawn Burnhardt and husband Mike of Cleveland and Tabby Ramey and husband Sean of South Webster; one brother, Blaine Gilliam of Minford, a brother in-law, Charles Starrett of Orlando, FL.; sisters in-law, Sandy Gilliam and Brandy Starrett; neices and nephews, Blaine David Gilliam, Sarah Gilliam, Lindsay Gilliam, Christi Phillips and Matthew Gilliam and many cousins including Randy Whisman whom he loved like a brother and 5 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Rick Gilliam and Barry Gilliam; a nephew, Brandon Gilliam and grandparents, Russell and Irma Gilliam. Memorial services will be 11 AM Sat., April 10, 2010 at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston with Rev. Gary Heimbach officiating followed by military honors by James Dicky Post 23, American Legion. Visitation will be Friday 6 to 9 PM and Saturday 10 to 11 AM at D.W. Swick in New Boston. Online condolences to dwswickfuneralhome.com.
