Age 77 of Portsmouth, died Wednesday evening at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth. She was born June 7, 1934 in Portsmouth to Homer and Thelma (Gronniger) Giles. She married Ronald Gene Burke in 1950. She moved from Portsmouth to Williamson, WV in 1963 where she lived until her move back to Portsmouth in 1992. Marquetta loved gardening, flower arranging, art, and was a former member of Grace Baptist Temple in Williamson, W.V. She is survived by one daughter, Penny Hatcher of Gilbertsville, KY; one son Lee Burke of Pikeville, KY; one sister, Judith Kay Bennett of Okeechobee, FL; three grandchildren, Wesley Kane Hatcher, James Andrew Burke, and Kristen Leigh Burke; special friend and longtime companion, Zeffie Williams of Portsmouth. She was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Gene Burke in 1991; three sisters, Martha Feazell, Evelyn Hoover, and Roberta Thompson Turner. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 2nd at Wolfe-Nelson Funeral Home in Sciotoville with Pastor Oscar Perry officiating. Interment will be in Lucasville Cemetery in Lucasville. Friends may call on Friday, July 1st from 6-8 at the funeral home.
